It was time to check out of our hotel in Lyon and to check in to our river cruise. But between the checking out and checking in, we had some time to kill.
We headed back to the funicular, this time taking the F2 route to St. Just. This is an old residential neighborhood and today it was a very quiet one. Perhaps because it’s Sunday there weren’t many people about. There are many beautiful old homes here and we spent our time wandering and tasting the pastries from the local patisserie.
We made our way from St. Just on foot back down the hill to the Musee des Confluences, located at the southern tip of the Presqu’ile at the confluence of the Rhone and Soane rivers. The museum has many interesting science and anthropology exhibits.
This skeleton of the Choulans mammal was discovered in Lyon in 1859, just 2 kilometres from the Museum.
After the museum visit it was time to begin the next leg of our adventure and check in to our floating hotel, the SS Catherine, our home for the next week.
